The AJA Foundation has been a supporter of Engera since 2011 and to date as provided $540,000 in financial contributions for programmatic work and capacity building.
Engera’s mission began in 2005, when a group of doctors from Italy began providing medical assistance and training to the people of Ethiopia, a country with more than 100 million people, making it the third most populous country in Africa. Engera manages and supports seven health facilities in the Gurage Zone and parts of the Oromia region of Ethiopia. Maternal and child health is their core focus, but their work extends far beyond those areas as they are the only reliable source for healthcare in this very remote region.
Engera USA a 501c3 was formed last year and is now positioned to fundraise directly in the U.S in support of activities in Ethiopia. The formation of this entity is part of a longer term strategy to expand critical health care services to more people by reaching new donors. It is our hope that Engera successfully raises $50,000 in the U.S. so AJA Foundation can match at 100 percent. To learn more about Engera, visit https://www.engerausa.org/.
